Conduct research studies and evaluation of internal security problems in India’s Northeast relating to insurgency and ethnic violence, examine the responses of the State and come up with suggestions for their resolution within the ambit of the Indian Constitution.
Examine through continuous research studies as to how peace could be achieved in the region through a proper linkage with development programmes, both future and ongoing, by the Government and/or the non-government sector.
Study and come up with suggestions to bring about a synergy among various civil society initiatives at peace building in India’s Northeast.
Carry out research studies to draw comparisons between causes and resolution of conflicts in the broader South Asian context and examine whether such approaches at peace building could be fine-tuned and applied in the Northeast Indian scenario.
Liaise with and share the findings and suggestions with other groups/organizations/individuals involved in different multi-track peace initiatives and apprise the Government of the conclusions drawn or reached.
