Arunachal Pradesh has about 12,169 km of major district roads. As of February 2018, the state had 2,537 km of national highways. During 2017-18, work on 1,132.018 km road length was completed and 20 habitations were connected under PMGSY. In May 2017, the government inaugurated the country’s longest 9.15 kms bridge over the Brahmaputra tributary, Lohit, which links Dhola in Assam & Sadiya in Arunachal Pradesh.

Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Department is running daily bus services including deluxe night services from Itanagar to most district headquarters including Tezpur, Guwahati (Assam) and Shillong (Meghalaya ). Besides private bus services to different routes/places are also available. Taxies also ply at various places.

The state’s capital, Itanagar, was put on the country's railway map in April 2014. The state government plans to extend the existing railway connectivity & connect the Upper Assam areas with Arunachal Pradesh. In March 2018, the new Arunachal Express train connecting Naharlagun and New Delhi was launched by Indian Railways. Railway projects worth Rs 90,000 crore (US$ 13.97 billion) are going on in the north eastern region of the country. Surveys of seven new broad-gauge railway lines were started in May 2017. The Ministry of Railways is readying to build huge railway infrastructure in the state, beginning with surveying of 3 railway tracks linking Tawang. The projects are estimated to require investment of around US$ 7.43 billion to US$ 10.41 billion.

Arunachal Pradesh does not have its own airport. The nearest airport to Arunachal is Lilabari airport in Assam at a distance of 67km from Itanagar. Naharlagun in Arunachal is connected by daily Pawan Hans helicopter service from Guwahati. A 9-seater Dauphin flight operates daily services from Naharlagun to Guwahati and 26-seater Mi-172 operates every day except Sunday. Besides, Tawang and Anini are also connected by helicopter services from Guwahati on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Other places in Arunachal Pradesh connected by air services are Pasighat, Tezu, Roing, Khonsa, Ziro, Changlang, Daporijo, Namsai and Along.

However, commercial flights in the state were started in May 2018 from Pasighat airport. Tezu airport is also expected to become operational soon.
