AIR Connectivity


Imphal Airport is the main aviation hub of Manipur second largest airport in the NE-Region with postal air cargo services six days a week. Direct air connection is available in Imphal Airport to Guwahati, Kolkata, Bangalore and Delhi and other destinations in and outside NE Region. At present Indian Airlines, Indigo, Kingfisher & Jetlite operate domestic flights ranging from 4 to 6 days a week. New State of the art terminal Building with cold storage facilities is under way which will facilitate marketing of products. Presently the Imphal airport connects the State to other parts of the country with 12 to 13 flights a day. The Imphal (Tulihal) Airport has been declared an international airport and it is under up-gradation.


Road Connectivity

Three National Highways, namely, N.H-39, N.H- 53 and N.H-150 traverse Manipur connecting all districts. The Saurashtra-Silchar Super Highway project is being extended to Moreh and with the proposed Moreh to Mae Sot (Thailand) highway approaching; Manipur will become India’s Gateway to South-East Asia. The Asian Highways AH1 and AH 2 travel through the State. The National Highways No.2, 37 and 202 links the state with the other parts of the country through Dimapur (Nagaland), Silchar (Assam) and Mellori (Nagaland) near Jessami in Ukhrul District.

Railway Connectivity

NH-39 links Imphal with railhead at Dimapur in Nagaland, 215 km. to the north and NH-53 links Imphal with railhead at Jiribam, 225 km. in the South-West. Forthcoming Jiribam to Tupul railway line is under progress, and once it will be completed, Imphal will be well connected to the rest of India.
