The border trade via the Old Silk Route at Nathula reopened on the 6th of July, 2006 amidst huge expectations of improving the relation between the two upcoming superpowers of the world, India and China.

The Border Trade remains officially open for about six months every year from May to November.

Agricultural Implements, Blankets, copper products, Clothes, Textiles, Cycles Coffee, Tea, Barley, Rice, Flour, Dry Fruit, Dry and Fresh Vegetables, Vegetable Oil Gur and Misri, Tobacco, Snuff, Cigarettes, Canned Foods, Agro Chemical, Local Herbs, Dyes, Spices, Watches, Shoes, Kerosene Oil, Stationery, Utensils, Wheat (Ua & Buck), Processed Food Items, Flowers, Fruits and Spices, Religious Products such as beads, prayer wheels, incense sticks and butter oil, Readymade garments, Handicraft and Handloom Products, Local Herbal Medicine.
